Adult Ministries
Community of Hope offers the following ministries for adults to help you connect with others in meaningful relationships and grow in your faith.
Step One: Discovery Dinner
Our Discovery Dinner is a casual, no-commitment get-together that offers newcomers an opportunity to investigate what we are about, meet our staff, ask questions, and connect with a few of our people, while enjoying a free meal. Discovery Dinners are held once every two months right after church from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Royal Palm Beach High School. Free childcare can be arranged if you tell us ahead of time. If you are interested in attending a Discovery Dinner, please contact the Church Office at (561) 753-8883 or Kathy Copan, Director of Discipleship.
Step Two: Making My Connections
When you come to the place where you feel Community of Hope might be the church for you, check out our 4-week membership class called “Making My Connections.” This is offered every second month over four Sundays right after the service from 11:30am to 1:00pm at Royal Palm Beach High School. You will learn about the history of our church, our values and mission, the ministries we offer to you and your family, and what membership involves. You will also have the opportunity to get to know others in the class and discover your own spiritual gifts. At the end of the four weeks, you should have the information you need to decide whether you wish to become a member of Community of Hope. Lunch will be served at each of the four sessions. We can arrange free childcare, if you ask us ahead of time. If you plan to participate in a “Making My Connections” class, please contact the Church Office at (561) 753-8883 or Kathy Copan, Director of Discipleship. Click Here to view our Membership Covenant.
Step Three: Small Groups
Our Small Group Ministry offers you a place to grow in your faith and to connect in relationships with others. We have groups on nearly every day of the week, both daytime and evening, and geared for many different types of people: couples, women, men, people grieving the death of a loved one, people recovering from divorce, young parents, and others. We encourage every member of our church to be part of a small group.
Click here for more information on Small Groups.
We offer two special groups that offer healing for those in difficult situations:
GriefShare: If you have lost someone close to you, this group is designed to help you work through the grief process in a healthy way and come through it stronger. This group is open to both Community of Hope members and those outside our church. We meet at Deanne Leapley's home in Madison Green. For more information, contact Kathy Copan at 753-8883 or kathy@gocoh.com.
DivorceCare: This 13-week support group is for people who have gone through or are going through separation or divorce. Videos and small group discussion help you deal with the pain of the past and begin to rebuild your life. Childcare can be provided if you contact us ahead of time. To register or for more information call 315-2004 or email jcmb@bellsouth.net . Meets at the Community of Hope LEAD Center, located on the NW corner of "E" Road and Okeechobee Boulevard in Loxahatchee Groves. (14101 Okeechobee Boulevard, Loxahatchee Groves, FL 33470)
Women’s Ministry:
Our Women’s Ministry offers women a chance to connect with other women. In addition to many women’s small groups that meet weekly (see small group listing), we also offer an annual spring women’s weekend retreat, a fall kick-off supper, and other women’s events throughout the year.
Men’s Ministry:
Our Men’s Ministry provides opportunities for men to connect with other men. In addition to two weekly men’s small groups (see small group listing), our Men’s Ministry also sponsors special events for men, such as: Saturday morning pancake breakfasts, fishing days, and our annual “Father Daughter Dance” in February. In addition, our men’s construction team enjoys serving together in practical ways, such as building our “Back to Bethlehem” village, or doing home repair for people in our church or others in need such as those in Belle Glade.
Senior's Ministry:
Our seniors get together once a month after the Sunday services for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Watch the worship folder for details about our next lunch. All are welcome to join us! This is a great place to meet other seniors and enjoy fun and fellowship together. For more information contact Carol Kuhney at (561) 753-8883.
“Campers of Hope” Ministry:
If you enjoy camping, this ministry provides a great way for your family to connect with other families from our church. For more information, contact Harry Bolander through the church office at (561) 753-8883.
Seasonal Events:
Watch for our many special events for adults and for families, such as our New Year’s Bonfire Service, our Ash Wednesday services, our Palm Sunday Outdoor Service and Egg Hunt, Easter Sunrise Service, and our summer baptism and all-church picnic.
The University of the Holy Spirit
We want to help each person at Community of Hope become a self-feeder with God’s Word, so we offer training in what we call “The University of the Holy Spirit”. This is a simple but effective method to read the Bible and apply it to your own life. For more information, click here.
Christian Life Profile:
The second half of our Mission Statement is that we want to grow together into fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The Christian Life Profile by Randy Frazee is an excellent tool designed to help Christians identify the next growth area God wants us to focus on. It then guides each person to develop their own personal plan for spiritual growth, with practical measurable steps. We encourage you to do this with a group, such as your small group, to gain the benefit of both accountability and prayer support for your personal goals. For more information on this tool, email Kathy Copan.
Spiritual Gift Counseling:
Each person has an inner desire to make a difference in the world. We want to help you find an area where you can serve a meaningful, worthy cause that fits your passions and gifting. The Holy Spirit has given each believer certain spiritual gifts that He wants us to use to further God’s Kingdom. But other factors are also important as you consider where you might plug-in and serve God.
We offer the S.H.A.P.E. Inventory to help you find your niche. S.H.A.P.E. stands for Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences—all of which are important factors as you consider where to serve. This inventory is offered as part of the “Making My Connections” class but it can be taken at other times as well. Using a gift assessment tool and a personal interview, we help you understand how God made you so that you find your place to serve God. For more information, please contact the Church Office at (561) 753-8883.
Missions and Servant Evangelism Opportunities:
Jesus commanded us to go into the world spreading His love and His message. At Community of Hope, we are not content to serve only our own church body. We care about both the physical and spiritual needs of people in our community and our world. Our Missions and Servant Evangelism Teams plan and prepare regular opportunities for our church family to participate in outreach projects, according to our theme: “Here, There and Everywhere”. Some of these include:
The first Sunday of each month: Canned Food Drive
We collect nonperishable food to meet the needs of people right here in our county.
The second Sunday of each month: CROS After School Snack Program
We make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for needy children in our area who are part of after school programs.
“Back to Bethlehem” our annual Christmas outreach
We recreate the village of Bethlehem in a free interactive experience that invites people to remember the real meaning of Christmas in an engaging and positive way. More information can be found on our Back to Bethlehem page by clicking here.
Compassion International Sunday
We offer the opportunity to ”adopt” a needy child in another country, providing monthly support and building a relationship with that child through letters.
And many more….If you wish to get involved in any of these outreach activities, contact our Church Office at (561) 753-8883 for more information. Click here to send email.
