Connecting with My Purpose
One of the greatest things that can ever be said about a person is that they fulfilled their purpose on earth. We want to help you discover that purpose and live it out.
Our SHAPE Profile can help you unlock your God-given S.H.A.P.E. This acronym expresses some factors that we should take into account as we determine how God might want us to serve Him.
S is for “Spiritual Gifts”, and the following assessment will especially focus on discerning which spiritual gifts God has given you. A spiritual gift is an ability given by (or enhanced by) the Holy Spirit which enables you to contribute to and build up the Body of Christ, while also bringing you a sense of fulfillment. Every believer has at least one spiritual gift. Scripture says that we should take time to be informed about spiritual gifts and that we are responsible to use them. Using your spiritual gift will give you joy and help you grow spiritually. At the end of this assessment you will find a list of the spiritual gifts mentioned in Scripture and their definitions.
H is for “Heart” and refers to what you really care about or are passionate about. We can’t care about every area equally. Each person is drawn toward concern for certain areas more than others. This is part of God’s design, so that all the various needs in the world and in the local church can be met.
A is for your “Abilities.” What you are good at outside of church can often be used for God’s purposes as well.
P reminds us that your “Personality” is an important factor in how you can best serve Him.
E stands for your “Experiences”. We believe God will use your past experiences, both the good and the painful, to be a blessing and help to others.
All of these aspects of your life have shaped you to serve in God’s kingdom in unique and beautiful ways.
If you take this tool seriously, it can start you on your journey toward finding your purpose in God’s Kingdom. Before you begin, ask God to guide you as you go through this assessment. Carefully read each question, and then rate yourself. Don’t linger a long time over each question, but answer them quickly based upon your first impression.
After you complete this assessment, please complete the “My SHAPE at a Glance Answer Sheet” and set up a follow-up interview with our Discipleship Director, Kathy Copan by calling 827-0368.
